This is an intriguing team, and they came together to produce an excellent and powerful Darth Vader story.ĭuring the climatic events of The Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader revealed that he was Anakin Skywalker to his son, Luke, and offered him a chance to rule the galaxy by his side. I am a little less familiar with Ienco and Menon (although Menon did work as a colourist on the Target Vader limited series), but both are experienced artists who have worked on some intriguing-sounding projects in the past. I am somewhat familiar with Pak’s work, enjoying his current run of Firefly comics for Boom!. Greg Pak is a film director and author who has written several amazing comics in his career, with a particular focus on the Hulk and Hercules series for Marvel. To tell this unique tale, Marvel have utilised the fantastic team of author Greg Pak, artist Raffaele Ienco and colour artist Neeraj Menon. All of the comics in this range sound fantastic, and I have been eagerly anticipating all of them, especially Darth Vader (2020) due to all the potential for action and drama that it has. This latest round of comics attempts to provide details about what occurred between the events of the second and third films, as well as create some new and exciting adventures. These comics follow on from earlier series which were set between the events of A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. The Darth Vader (2020) series is part of a new range of Star Wars comics which include the Star Wars (2020), Doctor Aphra (2020) and Bounty Hunters series, all of which are set in the year between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The death of Padmé had a particularly profound effect on Sabé - so much so that she and dear friend Captain Tonra founded the Naboo loyalists aptly called the Amidalans. She is the one chosen to be Padmé's main decoy as seen in The Phantom Menace, meaning that she had been extra attentive.Īdditionally, Sabé has a deeper connection with Padmé due to the unrequited crush the servant had on the Queen of Naboo. These rigorous and constricting demands can certainly lead to a loss of identity, but it is further amplified by Sabé's primary role among the handmaidens. In fact, the handmaidens often change their names to rhyme with the Queen's. The girls chosen to be a part of the program left their entire past lives behind to serve royalty their sole purpose was to study and protect the Queen of Naboo. First, Sabé's job as a handmaiden to Queen Amidala involved a complete immersion in Padmé's life. Sabé's relationship with Padmé Amidala is incredibly complex.
